# Pressgang a Wordpress Parent Theme Library
## Overview
_Pressgang_ is a Wordpress parent theme library that is built for rapidly bootstrapping Wordpress themes. It attempts to modernize many of the aspects of Wordpress theme design by using [.twig](http://twig.sensiolabs.org/) templating (thanks to the excellent [Timber plugin](http://upstatement.com/timber/) and incorporating Twitter's [Bootstrap framework](http://getbootstrap.com/) using [LESS](http://lesscss.org/) for rapid prototyping on the front-end. Pressgang also abstracts away many of the commonly repeated tasks used in building Wordpress themes using DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) and Convention Over Configuration principles to finally declutter your functions.php!

## Getting started
Pressgang is designed as a Wordpress _parent theme_ that acts as a library for your _child theme_. You will need to create a child theme to get started (for information on Wordpress Child Themes see the codex - https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes)

The best way to get up and running quickly is using the [pressgang-child](https://github.com/benedict-w/pressgang-child) repository which has a [grunt-init template](http://gruntjs.com/project-scaffolding) for creating a Pressgang ready child theme.

### Settings
The `core/settings.php` file is the core component of your _child theme_. Pressgang uses the associative array in this file to configure the Pressgang components used in your Wordpress theme: Here's where Pressgang's Convetion Over Configuration comes into play.

#### `inc`
This part of the settings.php file is used to load any Pressgang includes or 'add-ons' from the `pressgang/inc` directory. These are reusable features that are commonly part of Wordpress sites. 

#### `addthis`
This include is for adding http://www.addthis.com/ sharing buttons to the Wordpress site. It adds an AddThis section to the Wordpress Customizer (see codex - https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Customization_API) for entering the addthis ID for the site, and includes an `[addthis]` shortcode.

#### `admin-logo`
Replaces the Wordpress logo on the admin screen with the theme logo.

Builds a Wordpress breadcrumb, whcih can be rendered in the twig templates using `{{ breadcrumb() }}`
