# Wallet/Pathway Untangling Approach

## Goal
Separate the Emaji Wallet (identity + credentials) from Emaji (pathway requirements + matching) so the wallet requests pathways instead of sharing a database.

## Target Split
- **Wallet**: identity, auth, credentials, consent, presentation, UI for pathway results.
- **Emaji**: requirement rules, matching logic, pathway generation.

## Minimal Integration Flow
1) Wallet sends a pathway request to Emaji with:
   - goal/profession ID
   - user consent token
   - optional filters (region, language)
2) Emaji fetches only required data via Wallet APIs using the scoped consent token.
3) Emaji returns a pathway result:
   - requirements met/missing
   - suggested steps
   - optional credential requests
4) Wallet stores/displays pathway results; user data remains authoritative in Wallet.

## API Options
- **Synchronous**: Wallet -> Emaji `/pathways`, Emaji -> Wallet `/credentials/query`
- **Async**: Wallet emits `pathway.requested`, Emaji emits `pathway.completed`

## Incremental Migration
1) Add an internal HTTP API layer between the apps (even if they share DB for now).
2) Move matching logic into Emaji and call it via HTTP from Wallet.
3) Replace Emaji DB reads with Wallet API calls until no shared DB access remains.

## Guiding Principles
- Wallet remains source of truth for identity and credentials.
- Emaji is stateless regarding identity; use pseudonymous IDs and scoped consent.
- Share only minimum data required for the matching.
