# Reef Analytics

Beautiful, audience-specific dashboards for the reef-data app, fed by PostHog
(EU cloud, project 89181). Saved PostHog insights stay the single source of
truth for *what* is measured; this app owns *how it looks*.

## How it works

- **`config/metrics.php`** maps local metric keys to PostHog insight IDs.
- **`config/dashboards.php`** composes audience pages (KPI rows + chart tiles).
- **`app/Services/PostHog/`** — API client + normalizer (trends, funnels,
  retention, rankings → one uniform JSON shape).
- **`app/Services/KpiBuilder.php`** derives stat-tile values/deltas from snapshots.
- **`resources/js/charts.js`** — ECharts renderers (trend, area, bars, stacked,
  hbar, funnel, retention heatmap) driven by CSS design tokens; light + dark.
- Pages auto-refresh every 5 minutes; `?theme=light|dark` forces a theme
  (useful for wall displays).

## Setup

Keep data fresh with the scheduler: `php artisan schedule:work` locally, or a
cron entry `* * * * * php artisan schedule:run` in production (syncs every
15 minutes, well within PostHog's rate limits).

## Authentication

Sign-in is Google-only (Laravel Socialite) and restricted to verified
`@reef-data.com` accounts (`AUTH_ALLOWED_DOMAIN` in `.env`). **Auth is dormant
while `GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID` is empty** — dashboards are open; setting the
credentials activates the login requirement automatically. To enable it:

1. In [Google Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials)
   create an **OAuth client ID** (type *Web application*).
2. Add the authorized redirect URI(s), e.g.
   `http://127.0.0.1:8321/auth/google/callback` for local dev and
   `https://your-domain/auth/google/callback` for production.
3. Put `GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID`, `GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET` and `GOOGLE_REDIRECT_URI`
   in `.env`.

The domain check happens server-side in `GoogleAuthController::callback()` —
the Google `hd` parameter only pre-filters the account picker.

## Adding a metric / dashboard

1. Build or refine the insight in PostHog.
2. Add its ID under a key in `config/metrics.php`.
3. Reference the key from a tile in `config/dashboards.php`
   (charts: `trend`, `area`, `bars`, `stacked`, `hbar`, `funnel`, `retention`).
4. `php artisan posthog:sync --metric=<key>`
